360° Country Club ‘Earth Water Flower Wind’

흙 물 꽃 바람, 이 특별한 이름을 갖는 골프장이 의미하는 바는 자연인데, 자연이란 도시와 일상의 삶에서 소진한 힘을 다시 충전시켜주는 원천의 뜻을 갖는다. 자연 속에서 발견하는 비일상의 아름다움, 흙 냄새와 물 소리와 꽃 향기 그리고 바람의 청량함에 우리가 사는 세상이 얼마나 아름다운지를 확인시키며 우리의 삶에 대한 긍지를 북돋워 주는 것이 컨트리클럽의 정신일게다.

클럽하우스는 도시에서 자연으로 가는 관문이며 일상에서 비일상으로 바뀌는 공간이다. 전이가 발생하는 장소인 이 집은 서로 모르는 이들이 함께 하는 공동체이며 사회다. 따라서 이 사회적 건축인 클럽하우스를 하나의 빌딩이 아니라 마을이요 도시로 계획하는 것이 마땅하였다.

여러 채의 집들이 모여 이룬 이 클럽하우스는 대단히 바쁘게 시스템이 움직여야 하는 기능적 요구를 완벽히 수행하기 위한 목적도 있다. 즉 개별 기능 단위에 적합한 볼륨을 각기 상정한 후 그들을 가장 긴밀히 엮은 까닭으로 불규칙하게 모였으며 이 불규칙성이 자연스러운 군집의 형태를 이루게 하였다. 더욱이 개별 단위가 집합한 까닭으로 만들어진 사이공간들은 때때로 중정이 되어 자연환기와 채광을 제공할 뿐 아니라 시각적으로도 공간적 풍부함을 이루게 한다.

진입하는 차량들은 마을로 들어서는 듯한 느낌을 갖게 될 것이다. 클럽하우스와 이어진 게스트하우스 부분이 진입공간을 감싸 안으며 그 느낌을 증폭시킨다. 혹시 이 마을에 티업시간에 늦어 급히 도착한 골퍼들이 신속하게 스타트할 수 있도록 그 동선은 최대한 단축하였으나 혹 시간이 느긋한 이들에게는 라커룸에서도 그 움직임은 곳곳의 중정을 둘러싸며 여유롭게 진행되게 하였다.

필드에서 마지막 홀에 서면 이 마을의 티타늄 지붕들이 빛을 내며 골퍼들을 맞는다. 모든 과정을 마치고 일상으로 돌아가는 이들에게 이 클럽하우스는 흙 물 꽃 바람이 이룬 기억의 마을로 남게 된다.

This 360° golf club has another unique name as “Earth, Water, Flower, and Wind”. The club house is an urbanites’ gateway to nature and a space where routine changes into exception. The club house, where transition takes place, is a community where people, unknown to each other, share the same space. It was fair, therefore, that the club house or a social building, should be shaped as a village and town.

The club house, which is composed of several buildings, also should satisfy the functional requirements for the system of the golf club which needs rapidity in responding to the requests. For this purpose, an appropriate volume for each house unit was suggested for optimal functioning, and the house units were placed for maximum functioning. As such, they look as if they were arranged randomly. This randomness resulted in a natural cluster of house units. What is noteworthy is that the spaces between the house units look like courtyards. In addition, such spaces contribute greatly to natural ventilation, light, and both visual and spatial richness.

The golfers will feel like they drive through a village as they approach the golf club. The guest house adjacent to the club house embraces the access road, thereby intensifying such feeling. In case some golfers who arrive late for a round, a route of sequential shortcut movement is offered so that they can be ready for the tee-off as early as possible. On the contrary, for those who have enough time, meticulous arrangement has been made for them to take time even in the locker room, enjoying the view of surrounding courtyards.

Approaching the last hole in the field, the golfers encounter the lustrous titanium roof coverings of the town. The club house remains as a town of vivid memory of earth, water, flowers, and wind for those who return to their ordinary life after finishing a full round of golf.
